Anitta & KBrum – Sal Grosso
“Sal Grosso,” from Anitta’s EQUILIBRIVM II, reconnects her baile-funk roots with the Brazil–Jamaica continuum explored by Duque de Caxias artist KBrum. Produced by Maffalda, Enzo DiCarlo and Pedro Lucas, the track builds on Brazilian funk while folding in dancehall and ragga, with a heavy sound-system kick and a sample of DJ O Mandrake’s “Treinamento do Bumbum.” Its lyrics turn everyday Afro-Brazilian spiritual practices—coarse salt, prayers, candles, protective herbs and amulets—into a ritual of cleansing and protection. References to Madureira, baile funk and baile charme ground that spirituality in Rio’s street culture, while dancing itself becomes a form of purification, healing and bodily empowerment.
Ariana Grande – petal
The title track of Ariana Grande’s eighth album petal is produced and co-written by Grande, ILYA and Max Martin, turning her polished pop/R&B language into something unusually tense and theatrical. Beginning as a slow, oppressive waltz, the song eventually fractures into stuttering hip-hop rhythms, mirroring the anger beneath Grande’s controlled vocals. Lyrically, “petal” confronts the expectation that artists must repeatedly convert heartbreak and trauma into entertainment. Its central image—a delicate petal surviving through pavement—represents resilience amid fame, scrutiny and emotional exploitation. Grande ultimately rejects both the victim role and the fantasy of needing someone else to save her, placing faith instead in herself and her music.
ARTMS – Born Stunner
“Born Stunner,” the pre-release single from ARTMS’s 2026 EP Hyper-Ego, pushes the group toward a harsher, more maximalist strain of K-pop. Composed by Arjen Thonen, YELO, Kwon Ae-jin (MonoTree), and LUA, with KLIPTO handling the arrangement, it is built around crushing bass drops, glitchy synth textures, rapid rhythmic shifts, forceful rap passages, and a deliberately repetitive hook. The lyrics present ARTMS as figures “born in the glitch”: outsiders who turn difference, rumors, and attention into confidence. References to simulations, light, flashes, and glitches extend the group’s recurring digital/virtual imagery, while the swaggering “stunner” persona celebrates individuality and refusing conventional rules.
Blood Orange feat. Eva Tolkin & Liam Benzvi – Westerberg
Produced by Devonté Hynes, “Westerberg” is one of the gentlest, most nostalgic moments on Blood Orange’s Essex Honey. Its hazy indie pop/alternative R&B arrangement and softly interwoven vocals from Hynes, Eva Tolkin and Liam Benzvi give the song the feeling of an old musical memory resurfacing. The title honors The Replacements’ Paul Westerberg, while the chorus interpolates their 1987 song “Alex Chilton”—itself a tribute to another musician. That recursion fits the lyrics’ central theme: returning to forgotten records and childhood memories while realizing that youth has irretrievably passed. Nostalgia becomes both comforting and painful, closely connecting the song to Essex Honey’s broader meditation on grief, home and memory.
FLO – Remedied
“Remedied,” from FLO’s second album THERAPY AT THE CLUB, is an exuberant R&B/pop track produced by Oak Felder, Oscar Linnander and Jayme Silverstein; Jorja Douglas co-wrote it with Amy Allen, Felder, Linnander and Silverstein. Its punchy drums, brass-heavy production and theatrical energy recall the maximalist 2000s pop-R&B of Christina Aguilera’s Back to Basics. Lyrically, FLO move from crying alone in bed to being dragged out by friends for a chaotic night of drinking and dancing. The “remedy” is music, friendship and the dance floor: not necessarily a permanent solution, but an immediate way to escape a rut and rediscover confidence.
「Remedied」は、FLOの2ndアルバム『THERAPY AT THE CLUB』収録の高揚感あふれるR&B/ポップ。 Christina Aguilera『Back to Basics』期を思わせる2000年代的なマキシマル・ポップR&Bです。
James Blake, Travis Scott & Ludwig Göransson – When I’m Home
“When I’m Home” is the closing-credits song from Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, produced by James Blake and Ludwig Göransson and co-written with Travis Scott and Nolan. Its dark, ghostly blend of alternative hip-hop, experimental pop and cinematic score pairs Blake’s siren-like falsetto and distorted vocal layers with Scott’s spacious, meditative rap. The lyrics directly inhabit Odysseus’ journey, invoking Troy, fleets, war, sirens and the sea. Rather than celebrating homecoming, the song treats “home” as something psychologically uncertain: after years of violence and wandering, returning becomes a moment of reckoning with what has been lost, done and changed.
「When I’m Home」はChristopher Nolan監督『The Odyssey』のエンドクレジット曲で、James BlakeとLudwig Göranssonがプロデュース、Travis ScottとNolanも作曲に参加しています。
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu – KURU KURU HARAJUKU
“KURU KURU HARAJUKU,” Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s first new song after becoming a mother, reunites her with longtime producer Yasutaka Nakata, who wrote, composed, arranged, and produced the track. Musically, it is a brightly maximalist electropop/dance-pop track driven by an exotic melodic palette and an insistent, highly danceable beat. The lyrics reimagine Harajuku through dreamy sensory fragments—matcha, ramune bubbles, pastel colors, old love letters, and kaleidoscopic views—turning the neighborhood into a space where memory and fantasy continuously spin together. Kyary has described the song as part of her desire to energize Harajuku again and reconnect with the place central to her identity.
Ninajirachi & Porter Robinson – WannaCry
“WannaCry” is a euphoric electronic collaboration written and produced by Ninajirachi and Porter Robinson, with Wave Racer mixing the track. Robinson brought the bright lead-synth riff into their studio session, while Ninajirachi reshaped the bass, added glitches and helped build its explosive contrasts between airy passages and distorted, synth-heavy drops. Drawing on electropop, hyperpop and festival-ready EDM, it channels both artists’ fascination with computer culture. Cleverly, the lyrics are written from the perspective of the infamous 2017 WannaCry ransomware: a digital organism desperate to spread and “multiply.” Its destructive behavior is reframed almost sympathetically as an instinct for survival, turning malware into a strangely emotional character.
pinponpanpon – kuru kuru sushi
hyperpop-inflected electronic J-pop produced by French Cries, with P.O.O.P, lileffort, crescentceo and Jack Yuuki Engelbrekt serving as co-producers. French Cries and P.O.O.P composed the track, while pinponpanpon and French Cries wrote the lyrics. Its frantic electronic energy, repetitive hook and intentionally absurd presentation turn conveyor-belt sushi into pure internet-age pop spectacle. The lyrics pile up hamachi, tuna, salmon, wasabi, BeReal, money and romance through puns and non-sequiturs, treating a chaotic sushi outing as both comedy and surreal fantasy rather than pursuing a conventional narrative.
Quadeca – Hell of a time
“Hell of a time,” the third single from Quadeca’s upcoming album Life 1, was written, produced, mixed and mastered entirely by Quadeca (Benjamin Lasky). It is one of his most pop-forward songs yet, blending dance-pop and experimental electronic pop through chopped, bouncing drums, playful synth chords, layered harmonies and deliberately artificial digital instrumentation. Lyrically, Quadeca looks back on a relationship that may have ended badly, but insists on preserving the joy that once existed. As the production gradually darkens, the repeated phrase “we had a hell of a time” shifts from carefree celebration into something more bittersweet: an attempt to accept change without rewriting the past.
Rapsody – Apple Juice
“Apple Juice,” from Rapsody’s God Gotta Afro & Gold Hoops, is produced by Groove and Mr. Porter, with additional vocals from Nomsa Mazwai. Built around the warm neo-soul language of D’Angelo’s “One Mo’ Gin,” it blends hip-hop, soul and jazz through Rhodes piano, organ, live-feeling drums and a relaxed 69 BPM groove, while Rapsody spends much of the song singing rather than rapping. Lyrically, she portrays the nervous sweetness of falling for someone and wondering whether the attraction is mutual. The “sugar in my apple juice” metaphor captures that intoxicating desire, balancing sensuality with hesitation, vulnerability and the hope of experiencing a deeper kind of love.
Remi Wolf – Twiggy
“Twiggy,” the lead single from Remi Wolf’s upcoming third album Mud, is produced by Wolf, Jack DeMeo and Solomonophonic (Jared Solomon), with additional production from Paul Cherry. Beginning with warm finger-picked guitar and an upbeat indie-folk/pop-rock feel, the track gradually expands into a louder, emotionally charged finale, allowing Wolf’s elastic, increasingly raw vocals to drive the tension. Lyrically, she describes attraction to emotionally unavailable partners through funny, sharply observed details before the relationship’s instability becomes harder to ignore. Wolf jokingly describes it as being about people lacking “butts and emotional availability,” while also suggesting it could concern the messiness of addiction, giving the playful song a darker undertow.
Rico Nasty – Frenzy
“Frenzy,” from Rico Nasty’s 2026 album RX, reunites her with longtime collaborator Kenneth Blume (formerly Kenny Beats), who produces the entire project and co-wrote the track with Rico. Musically, it is an abrasive, maximalist trap/rage rap cut built from crushing bass, warped glitches and blown-out electronic textures; Pitchfork notes its resemblance to the contemporary UK underground sound around fakemink and “LV Sandals.” Rico responds with constant flow changes, punchlines and manic ad-libs. Lyrically, it is pure swagger: she mocks rivals and broke men, flaunts money, sex appeal and status, and turns her chaotic “frenzy” lifestyle into a statement of glamorous self-confidence.
Slayyyter – brand new chanel$
“brand new chanel$” is produced by Wyatt Bernard and Austin Corona, who also co-wrote it with Slayyyter. Mixed by pop veteran Serban Ghenea, the track leaves much of WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA’s abrasive electroclash behind for glossy 2010s-style pop, slowly building through washed-out synths and a driving kick/hi-hat pulse before erupting into huge drums and synth wails. Lyrically, it documents the real infidelity Slayyyter discovered around her Coachella breakthrough, moving through suspicion, gaslighting, late-night calls and betrayal before reaching defiant release. As a sequel to “BEAT UP CHANEL$,” designer luxury becomes a bitter symbol of superficial desire versus genuine emotional connection.
Trooper Salute –
“友達がいました,” the eight-minute title track of Trooper Salute’s debut album, was written and composed by keyboardist Hayato Komiya, the band’s central figure in songwriting and arrangement; public credits list Yuji Kamijo as recording engineer but do not specify a separate producer. The song expands their self-described symphonic indie-rock into a sweeping, progressive finale, balancing delicate passages with increasingly grand ensemble dynamics. Its lyrics remember a flawed but irreplaceable friend—someone dishonest, unpopular and difficult, yet deeply admired. Repeated images of words overflowing from the narrator’s chest and dissolving into water capture regret over things that could never properly be communicated, turning friendship, separation and imperfect human connection into something both mournful and forgiving.
